"There is no single objective way to describe why an artifact is significant to a culture. Objects are important to different people for different reasons. To make this idea personal, students will be invited to bring to class important cultural artifacts from their own lives. Each object will be "interpreted" by a student anthropologist who will make hypotheses regarding the importance of this object. The student anthropologist will also determine what this artifact says about the culture of the owner. The owner of the artifact will get a chance to tell their actual story."
This is a resource geared toward parents. It could be something given to parents hardcopy, suggested reading for parents via the internet, and/or used by the teacher. There are suggestions for books, magazines, activities, etc. as additional resources.
Kristiana, I liked the ideas that this site has for parents, as well as teachers. Very informative and is filled with wonderful ways to guide our children.
It is important to show students how women in history have had an impact in their lives today. This site is a great resource for students and teachers.
I am so happy this is one to share. Women history is very important because it seems like most students think of Men in history. This is another great resource for us-I think I may share this with some current teachers now to see if they can use it.
